Surface safety valve is used for shutdown the well flow upstream of choke manifold in case of an emergency like fire or leakage. It’s hydraulically actuated fail-safe close gate valve used for well testing or production of oil and gas wells with high flow rate, high pressure, or the presence of H2S. Choke manifold and surface safety valve are common wellhead equipment.
